Class Descriptions

  • Gentle & Restorative

Restorative yoga is a restful practice that holds yoga poses (asanas) for a longer duration using props like yoga blocks, blankets, and bolsters which are all available in our studio. Pairing breathe with movement, the gentle practice encourages joint mobility and the release of muscle tension and builds strength. This class is open to all levels

  • Gentle Yoga: Yoga Nidra

The class begins with centering leading into gentle Hatha yoga movements and mindful breathing to invite ease in the body. This is followed by a deeply relaxing and restorative Yoga Nidra meditation. Yoga Nidra is a guided lying down yogic sleep meditation practice that releases tension on the physical, mental, emotional levels for inner peace and well-being. Research has shown that a regular Yoga Nidra practice helps to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue, sleep disorders and more. These healing practices are based on ancient yogic teachings and help to improve the quality of our life. This class does not require any previous experience and all are welcome to join in for well-being.

  • Hatha Strength

This class embraces a mindful, progressive approach to building strength through full body movement.

Combining the ancient practice of yoga with the insights of modern science, the goal is to provide a mindful movement experience that supports increased mobility, strength and flexibility. If you have chronic pain, you will learn guiding principles to assist you in managing and working with your pain. A variety of props are used including resistance bands, blocks and weights to build capacity at your own pace, in a way that is accessible to beginners or advanced practitioners.

  • Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga offers a series of poses focused on stretching and twisting, laying the foundation for various yoga practices. It combines physical postures (asanas) with breath control (pranayama), preparing the body for meditation and enhancing awareness.

Benefits: As one of the oldest yoga styles, Hatha Yoga reduces stress, calms the mind, and is especially helpful for anxiety and depression. It improves muscle tone, flexibility, and joint health, making it perfect for beginners. Classes are slower-paced, allowing for longer holds in poses, which promotes mindfulness and relaxation. This traditional practice links movement with breath, fostering strength and flexibility.

  • Hatha Yoga Intermediate with Gerda

At the intermediate level of Hatha Yoga, students delve deeper into the intricate relationship between breath and movement. Here, practitioners develop a keen awareness of how breath control evolves with each pose, enhancing both strength and flexibility. This stage is a rewarding challenge, as it demands a higher level of physical capability and mental focus than earlier practices. Embrace the thrill of exploring more complex movements, including invigorating backbends, as you deepen your connection to your body and breath. Description goes here

Everyone at any level of experience is welcome, as you’re encouraged to honor ahimsa (non-harming) and practice at a level appropriate for the body you woke up with that day!
